Support in the paddocks

Location: Doveton
Read more...

We require a new volunteer to support and assist 2 participants while they volunteer with RDA Doveton, Thursday morning, bi-weekly.

You can meet the group at the farm or meet them in Pakenham and travel together to Doveton.

The participants are required to clear/clean the 'overnight' paddocks of manure, hay, sticks & branches, while the horses are in another area of the farm.  Your role as the volunteer (along with the staff member) is to encourage them, show them what to do and ensure that it is done safely.  The paddocks are very large so they may be sectioned to create a smaller work area so everyone can feel that they have accomplished the task.  This is an ongoing role.

You are required to be able to push wheelbarrows, rake & shovel.  You also need to supply your own sturdy workboots, hat, sunscreen & raincoat.
