Volunteering makes us happier

Talking to other people, making a difference in someone’s life or having a creative outlet. Volunteers work with Outlook for many different reasons.

We have approximately 80 volunteers who work across Outlook. They help in a variety of different ways, ranging from kitchen assistance to administration. To mark National Volunteer Week, Volunteering Australia produced some interesting data. Essentially, they say that volunteering makes people happier. Just a few hours of volunteering can make a positive difference to mood and happiness. Perhaps this is because to be truly happy we need to combine pleasure with a purpose. Thank you to all our volunteer who make a wonderful difference and I hope your volunteering does indeed make you happy.
