I have been fortunate enough to have been involved as a volunteer with Outlook for 12 months now. Almost 6 years ago I was hit by a car while crossing the road. Since the first month in a coma I have started my recovery from the basic level of walking and talking to my current abilities. I am still learning. One step I am achieving has been assisted with by my role as an Outlook volunteer

My role is to place items which have been donated for another use to be resold by Outlook. This has given me an opportunity to liaise with customers and work as part of a team. I have appreciated taking steps that I used to take without thinking and putting myself in a responsible position. Another passage to view what life is about that used to be around me before the accident.

I enjoy being involved in a position that is based on the idea of making better use of products that are still usable but no longer used by previous owners. Even better than this is that the society involved in organising this procedure. I have found their assistance helpful to people like me who are recovering from what I have been through. Only 2hrs a day, once a week for 1 year so far and I am still being rewarded. I am happy to recommend Outlook as an organisation to be involved with from my own opinions to the volunteering and rewards I have found.
